Transparency
It’s vital to any organized body for their representatives to be as clear and open as possible. Many officials have taken advantage of their offices by not being relatable and reachable to the electorate, and only available to those who can be a benefit to them. Literally they become unavailable to those who elected them.
My plan is to make my office at City Council even more transparent and make common sense decisions which will benefit the community and the individual.
Lawlessness
Our law enforcement community finds itself in a pickle. Offenders are not prosecuted if the offense is $1,000 or less, and the officers say the offender is taken down to the magistrate in the morning and by afternoon the officers see them right back on the streets committing additional crimes.
I believe this types of awful allowance need to be reversed and prosecuted. This will enable law enforcement to be respected and revered. And repeat offenders will think twice about committing crimes. I would be an advocate in favor of removing this outdated ordinance.
Affordability
The City Council seems to think that approving building permits for multi-family units is the answer to affordable living issues in Charlotte. This is far from the truth. Investing in the city is good, but taking away our residents' opportunity to create generational wealth by purchasing a home is wrong. We should be encouraging our residents that they can buy a home and live the American dream of homeownership.
One of my personal goals will be to introduce a resolution for "No New Taxes" for five years and increase our current subsidies for homeownership with additional investment into our communities.
